What is DALI, and DALI-2?

2020/10/12

What is DALI?

DALI stands for "Digital Addressable Lighting Interface" and is an interface protocol for digital communication between electronic control devices for lighting technology. The underlying technology was established by a consortium of lighting equipment manufacturers, and as an open standard alternative to several proprietary protocols. DALI is “addressable,” allowing it to control individual fixtures as well as groups of fixtures easily. It was designed for a single control or “broadcast” to control up to 64 lighting fixtures in a single DALI bus or “loop.”

DALI is specified by a series of technical standards in IEC 62386. Standards conformance ensures that equipment from different manufacturers will interoperate. The DALI trademark is allowed on devices that comply with the DiiA testing and certification requirements, and are certified (DALI-2) on the DiiA website.

Since Dec. 2014, Kinglumi became the DALI associate member, and has the ability and experience to design, produce, certificate and control the quality of DALI LED drivers, DALI Luminaires, and DALI control devices.
